“WHAT MORE CAN HE DO?”

CROSS

I love the song by Bishop G.E. Patterson in his 2005 recording of “Singing the Old Time Way, Vol. 1. “What More Can He Do.”

In this song, Bishop Patterson simply ask a question,” what more can He do?” It is inferred that the hearers understand that Jesus Christ is the “HE.” Bishop Patterson goes on to say, “He laid the foundation, opened up the way, what more can He do?”

As I pondered the lyrics to this song, I began asking myself this question. Really, what more could Jesus Christ do for us to understand His teachings and the plans He has for mankind? My mind immediately went to Acts 7:1-53, which is Stephen’s detailed speech and the account of the history and the plan of God to bring to His people deliverance. Let me remind you, he takes 53 verses to make this speech in the last moments of his life before he is stoned to death for believing and serving Jesus Christ.

In our modern times, I see God using all kind of ways to get us to see that Jesus’ death on the cross did more than we could ever imagine. God has given us creative ways to get this message across. He allows individuals to write songs, books, and dramatic plays about the way Jesus “opened up the way” for us to have a strong foundation in Christ. He gifted people with the talent to paint masterpieces, preach God-breathed sermons, and dynamic spoken word poetry. Some demonstrate through the gift of dance. We have social media that allows us to look into the lives of others who share their faith through personal stories.

The Cross of Jesus Christ gives us Life! Through His death, burial, and resurrection, HE laid the foundation and opened up the way for us to have a personal relationship with God. This relationship with God through Jesus Christ grants you, inner peace in the time of trouble, love beyond a feeling, inexpressible joy, and the assurance that you will live with Him in eternity.

My question to you is…”What more can HE do for you to make Him a priority in your life?
