24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
The verb “bless” really needs no explanation. We are familiar with its definition. It invokes divine favor by God. In this verse, Aaron, the priest says this blessing over Israel. However, we must never forget who the author of the blessing is, God! God told Moses to tell Aaron what to say. But did you notice, not only will the Lord “bless” you but He will “keep” you.
So, here it is…
The LORD (Master and Owner of Heaven and Earth) bless you and keep you;
The Lord alone is the keeper.
In His keeping you, He is protecting you! Protecting you from the very things that may be a concern for you. He does not require us to keep ourselves (we’re sheep), but in All of His Power, His Wisdom and His Might, He’s watching over you. He’s so gracious!
For the Lord to make his face shine on you means-He accepts you by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and turning His face toward you means-He looks upon you with favor. Like a luminous smile of a parent, His love and compassion is toward you.
Then… the ultimate-He gives you “peace!”
- Peace of mind
- Peace in your home
- Peace in your relationships
- Peace on your job
Wherever you need peace, He graciously provides.
Remember, the Lord is the Author of the blessing and He’s the Keeper. So you don’t have to worry be at peace…You’re TO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!
