Acts 16:25-26 New Living Translation (NLT)
25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. 26 Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!

I read an article by David T. Koyzis entitled, “Rising at Midnight: Sleep Patterns and Daily Prayer,” which explaines how “our ancestors slept in two stretches during the night, and the hallowed practice of rising at midnight to pray.”  He talks about how Roger Ekirch, professor of History at Virginia Tech discovered the existence of our sleeping twice per night.  This is definitely an interesting read.

There are many scriptures in the Bible that make reference to what takes place at midnight!  God has called a midnight meeting, will you be there?

What’s on HIS agenda?

Thanksgiving: Psalm 119:62 (NIRV)
At midnight I get up to give you thanks
because your decisions are very fair.

Deliverance: Acts 16:25-26 (NIRV)

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying. They were also singing hymns to God. The other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a powerful earthquake. It shook the prison from top to bottom. All at once the prison doors flew open. Everyone’s chains came loose.

Keep Watch: Mark 13:35 (NIRV)

“So keep watch! You do not know when the owner of the house will come back. It may be in the evening or at midnight. It may be when the rooster crows or at dawn.

Revelation and Instruction: Acts 20:7 (TLB)

On Sunday we gathered for a Communion service, with Paul preaching. And since he was leaving the next day, he talked until midnight!

There is a powerful mystery about praying at midnight.  Take the challenge and meet with God at midnight.  Set your alarm clock, get up and attend the meeting.

Genesis 32:24-26 (RSV)
24 And Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. 25 When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and Jacob’s thigh was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26 Then he said, “Let me go, for the day is breaking.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go, unless you bless me.”

  • LOVE
  • JOY
  • HOPE

We are living in a world where right is deemed wrong and everything God has established as “truth” is interfering with someone’s rights to do the opposite of what He has spoken.

But one thing will NEVER change.  “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”  Let your hope be in Him who is everything you will ever need.

Why Does God Restore?

PSALM 23:3

He restores my soul;

He guides me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

It’s amazing what you discover, when you take time to read God’s Word.  The answer to the question, is found in the verse above.  The reason God restores is…FOR HIS NAME SAKE!

Here are a few verses that shows what happens “FOR HIS NAME SAKE:”

Psalm 23:3-Restores our soul

Psalm 25:11-Pardons our iniquity

Psalm 31:3- Leads and guides us

Psalm 79:9-Delivers and forgives our sins

Psalm 106:8- Saves us

Psalm 109:21-Revives us

Isaiah 48:9-Delays wrath

In this journey called “LIFE” we will all need God to restore us.  From the cares of life, negative people, negative situations, bad decisions and choices.  The key is…when He heals, delivers, saves, leads and guides it’s all for HIS PURPOSE!

 For example, if you’re sick and in need of healing, pray that God would heal you not because you’re tired of the sickness, but you need to feel better so that you can get up and accomplish His will for your life. You can’t do it well if you’re not well!

Let’s Pray:

“Heavenly Father,  I am fully aware that You are the Source of everything I am and everything I have.  I need to be restored, emotionally and physically healed, saved, forgiven and revived in order to be productive in my purpose for You!  Not for selfish gain do I ask, but for the purpose of Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done in my life and here on earth.  FOR YOUR NAME SAKE…AMEN.

*Thanks Diona*

Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)

A generous person will prosper;
    whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

God’s ways are so different from ours!  Isaiah 55:8-9, tells us that His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are His ways our ways. His ways are much higher than ours.  We need to elevate our thoughts and approach life God’s Way!

The Living Bible says it best, “It is possible to give away and become richer! It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything. Yes, the liberal man shall be rich! By watering others, he waters himself.”

In this life, there will ALWAYS be someone in need.  It may be spiritual, emotional or physical. Whatever it is, God is looking for a generous person, who is willing to give of their time, talent, and treasure to others.  It can be through a kind word or deed, God put you here to meet a need.  Today’s culture says, “I’m looking out for me” or “I got mine, you better get yours.”  But God says, “love your neighbor as yourself,”  “Give, and it will be given to you.”

Do You Want to Prosper?  Well, take the time and refresh someone’s life by putting hands and feet to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Look for a need to meet in someone’s life.  If you’re in need of a blessing–Be A Blessing!  Take God at His Word.  “By watering others, you will be watering your own life.”

Now that’s how you Prosper!

Numbers 6:24-26

24 The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;

26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

The verb “bless” really needs no explanation.  We are familiar with its definition. It invokes divine favor by God.  In this verse, Aaron, the priest says this blessing over Israel.  However, we must never forget who the author of the blessing is, God!  God told Moses to tell Aaron what to say. But did you notice, not only will the Lord bless” you but He will “keep” you.

So, here it is…

The LORD (Master and Owner of Heaven and Earth) bless you and keep you;

The Lord alone is the keeper.

In His keeping you, He is protecting you! Protecting you from the very things that may be a concern for you.  He does not require us to keep ourselves (we’re sheep), but in All of His Power, His Wisdom and His Might, He’s watching over you. He’s so gracious!

For the Lord to make his face shine on you means-He accepts you by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and turning His face toward you means-He looks upon you with favor. Like a luminous smile of a parent, His love and compassion is toward you.

Then… the ultimate-He gives you “peace!”

  • Peace of mind
  • Peace in your home
  • Peace in your relationships
  • Peace on your job

Wherever you need peace, He graciously provides.

Remember, the Lord is the Author of the blessing and He’s the Keeper.  So you don’t have to worry be at peace…You’re TO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!

 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil;  My cup overflows.  Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23 Simplified

Because The Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need. He knows me better than I know myself.  At times when I am allowing life to wear me out, He knows I do not know when to settle myself, so He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me to quiet waters so I can regain strength.

He knows there are times my soul needs to be restored from situations and circumstances that have damaged the way I think and process life.  So, He guides me on the right path for His name sake, that I may accomplish His will and do the things which brings glory to Him.

Even though I walk through some valleys where dark shadows may seem to overtake me in life, I do not fear.  Because His rod and staff equally comfort me when I am in need of correction or direction.

God prepares what I need and my cup is never empty, I live in a state of perpetual blessings.  There is no place like His house where I choose to live, dwell and abide forever!

I am the sheep and He is my Shepherd, there is nothing I lack.

“The food necessary for growth”

By Deborah V. Morgan

I’ve heard a lot of sermons and biblical teachings over the 50+ years of my life. Many have been inspiring and life changing.  Some were boring and totally confusing. The presentations ranged from serious to down right amusing. Recently, my desire to learn and understand God’s Word in ways that are simple, yet practical, is now one  of my greatest challenges.

Proverbs 4:7 (CJB) says, “The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom! And along with all your getting, get insight!”

Understanding and Awareness is what “NOURISHMENTendeavors to share with anyone interested in getting food necessary for growth!

Once a month, a selection from the Bible will be posted to challenge you for Spiritual Growth!
